A few days ago we were told that Trovit was selected as one of the 200 finalists for the Red Herring 100 Europe award, and today we can announce that Trovit has finally been selected as one of the 100 winners of the Red Herring 100 Europe, an award given to the top 100 private technology companies based in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region each year.
“This year’s impressive list of winners demonstrates Europe’s emergence as a major player in the global technology sector,” said Red Herring Editor-in-Chief, Joel Dreyfuss. “The exceptional accomplishments of European technology companies and entrepreneurs are a testament to the rapid advancements being made in building the European innovation ecosystem.”
Red Herring’s lists of top private companies are an important part of the company’s tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. Companies like Google, eBay and Skype were spotted in their early days by Red Herring editors, and touted as leaders that would change the way we live and work.

AltSearchEngines, a very popular blog about alternative search engines, has just written a post about Trovit, naming it the “search engine of the day“.
In the post, Charles Knight highlights Trovit’s interface, specially the dynamic map we use on our corporate home page. We’re glad you like Trovit, Charles, and thank you very much for the post.
As you have probably seen, a few days ago we added filters to our searches of homes and cars.
When you search for a home, you can filter your results by publication date, price, floor area, number of rooms and bathrooms and property type. When you set a filter, it will show up in the upper part of the left column, surrounded by a blue border; in the example, we have set filters for price and number of rooms. If you want to remove that filter, just click on the “X” next to it or use “Undo all” to remove all the filters.
In Trovit Cars you can filter your searches by publication date, price, mileage, fuel, year, transmission type of number of doors.
One word of advice regarding filters: as you know, not all of the ads include all the information: for instance, some sources do not have the floor area for homes. As a result, when you filter for a given range of floor area, ads that do not have that information will not show up in the search.
We hope you all like this new improvement and that it allows you to find the ads you’re looking for.
If you use Google’s personalized home page or Google Desktop you can now add a Trovit gadget to search for ads.
Once you add the gadget to your homepage you can define a search for homes, cars or jobs and the gadget will continuously update its results, check out this screenshot:

If you want to add Trovit to your homepage, just click on the button:
Another nice thing of Google Gadgets is that they can be included in any webpage (for example, your own blog). For example, we have included here a search for journalist jobs in London:
If you want to add a Trovit Gadget to your website just go here, you will be able to personalize the search query, size of the gadget and colors and then you will get a short code that you can just copy-paste to your website and you’re done!
We are very happy to announce the launch of Trovit in Italy: Trovit Case for real estate sales and rentals, Trovit Auto for used cars and Trovit Lavoro for jobs.
The sites are fully functional and have lots of interesting ads, but we are still working hard to increase the number of sources and ads available for our users. Please contact us if you would like to suggest us a source of ads to include in our index.
As always, we would love to hear any suggestion or criticism you might have.

Trovit Homes is integrated with Google Maps, which allows you to find you home for sale or for rent in a map.
Using Trovit Maps is very simple, just go to the maps page and you will see a map of London with homes for sale (in blue) and for rent (in red). If you click on any of the icons you will see a bubble with a short description of the property and a picture. You can click on the bubble to see the complete ad.
To move the map you just have to click on the map and drag it in any direction; once you finish dragging, new properties will come up in the map. You can also move the map using the controls on the top-left of the map and also change the zoom level.
One word of caution: only properties that have their complete address in the ad are shown in the map. As you know, many times sellers don’t publish the address in the ad, so if you want to search in all the ads you still have to use the normal search engine.
We hope you like this option and you find it useful. In case you have any comments or suggestions please contact us, we love hearing from our users.
Trovit is a search engine for classified ads, as simple as that.
Have you ever had to surf tens of sites in search of your next car, home or job? And if you don’t find anything you have to repeat the same search the next day, waisting your valuable time. Trovit’s goal is to help you find the ads you’re interested in with the least effort from you.
How does it work? Trovit’s robot visits tens of sites with classified ads (homes, cars and jobs) and allows you to search all those ads from a easy to use searchbox like the one you can find in any search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN…). When you find an ad you’re interested in, just click on it and you will be taken to the original ad, where you will find all the information to contact the seller or employer.
You can also set email alerts or personalized RSS feeds that will inform you as soon as a new ad that interests you is published.
On the other hand, Trovit does not want to compete with classified ads sites; on the contrary, Trovit aims to be a source of traffic to those sites, as all the other search engines are. Trovit’s search results include a limited text of the ad and the user will always have to visit the original source to read the complete ad. If you have a website with classified ads and want to allow Trovit’s users to search you ads, please contact us and we will include them as soon as possible.
We hope you like Trovit and of course we are open to any suggestion or criticism you might have, just leave us a comment in this blog or use the contact form.
